Overview

Lung cancer, as with many cancers, often is not diagnosed until it has reached an advanced stage.  To increase survival rates, lung cancer screening has recently been approved as a tool that physicians can use to detect lung cancer at an earlier stage in a high risk population.  However, there is confusion among providers as to whether screening is worthwhile and what the exact criteria are for eligible patients.

Lack of awareness of the latest guidelines in low dose CT screening and treatment of early stage lung cancer can contribute to poor outcomes including survival benefit.  In addition, a lung screening program is complex to establish and requires a multidisciplinary team of professionals working collaboratively to achieve quality outcomes.

Join this group of oncology specialists as they describe the current strategy for early detection and screening of lung cancer, review the treatment and clinical pathway algorhythm for early stage lung cancer and increase knowledge of support and survivorship resources for lung cancer patients and their caregivers.
