Overview

This one day course is targeted towards orthopedic surgeons, primary care providers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, nurses, and other allied professionals who want to learn about emerging treatment options for common conditions encountered by orthopedic surgeons.The course will include lectures on upper extremity conditions, ankle and knee replacement surgery, spine surgery, and sports medicine injuries. The format will include lectures, breakout sessions, and surgical demonstrations broadcast from Anne Arundel Medical Center’s SAIL Center.  


Objectives
  1. Identify new surgical techniques for Patellofemoral replacement.
  2. Learn the current state of treatment of acute scapholunate ligament ruptures.
  3. Understand the advantages of Global Sagittal Alignment in the management of spinal conditions.
  4. Learn of recent advancements in the non-operative management of Adhesive Capsulitis.
  5. Understand the indications and contraindications for dry needling.
  6. Learn the newest technology for arthroscopic repairs in the hip.
  7. Understand the anatomy associated with exercise induced compartment syndrome as well as indications and complications associated with surgical managment.
  8. Understand, through surgical demonstration, the evolving use of ankle replacement.
  9. Understand the benefits and features of the Trochanteric Fixation Nail (TFN).
  10. Learn the elements that enhance recovery after joint replacement at AAMC.
